How it works
Smart Pricing uses your pricing formula to calculate the ideal price for each item in your inventory. The calculation is updated automatically every time:
- you change your pricing formula
- you refresh or update your store inventory
You can also apply your formula to an external inventory file by uploading a .bsx
(BrickStore) file. This is useful if you want to price a batch of items before listing them for sale, but it can do much more than that.
For example, if you're planning to part out a new set or buy a large lot of parts, you can load the file into BL Metrics and instantly calculate the estimated value of those items, based on your own pricing strategy. This gives you a much more realistic estimate than just using part-out value alone.
If you're considering buying a full store, applying Smart Pricing to the full inventory file will help you evaluate what that store is really worth to you, according to your market, your region, and your pricing preferences.
Browsing your smart pricing results
Your inventory is displayed in a fully filterable and customizable table. You can configure which columns to display, such as:
- Your current unit price
- The computed smart price
- The percentage difference between the two
- Sales data from the price guide (e.g. sold quantities, average price, demand)
You can filter by any of these columns, for example, to focus only on items where the smart price is at least 10% higher or lower than your current price, or to only show specific item categories, types, or parts with high demand.
Both new and used items are shown in the same view, and can be filtered independently if needed. Parts and minifigures are also handled in the same interface.
Exporting your updated prices
Smart prices are not sent directly to BrickLink, you remain in full control of what gets updated.
Once you've reviewed your results, you can export your updated prices using one of the supported formats:
- BSX file: ready to open in BrickStore
- BrickLink XML: ready to import in BrickLink (mass update)
You can export either your entire inventory or only the currently filtered view, depending on what you want to update.
Summary
Smart Pricing helps you keep your prices in sync with the market with full control. By applying your pricing formula to your store or to a batch of new items, you can stay competitive, optimize margins, and reduce the time you spend manually updating prices.
